Sri Lanka, an island next to the southern part of India, known for its world heritage and tea. On the political side, the minority group of the Tamils who represent less than 10% of the population is opposing the majority group of the Singhalese. The extremist Tamil movement "LTTE ("Tigers")" is demanding independence and has been at war with the Sri Lankan government for more than 20 years. Though a cease-fire agreement was signed on February 2002, the peace negotiations are still deadlocked. Though more than 60,000 people have died due to the conflicts going on in the north-east regions and the terrorists attacks around the capital, the world seems to be quite indifferent. This is one more forgotten land of turmoil.
